Cynthia Begay elected to City of L.A. Indian Commission

Congratulations to Cynthia Begay (Navajo/Hopi), Ph.D. student at USC’s Keck School of Medicine, for being elected to the City of Los Angeles Indian Commission. Begay joins three USC alumni board members Patricia Lopez, Sherry Thomas, and Executive Director Alexandra Valdes. She will be a tremendous asset as an advocate for Indian Health Services, and the Trojan family wishes her well in this new role.

“The Los Angeles City/County Native American Indian Commission was created through a joint effort of members of the Los Angeles Native American community, Los Angeles City, and Los Angeles County governments. The primary purpose of the Commission is to increase the acquisition and application of funding resources to the socioeconomic problems of American Indians in Los Angeles City and County without duplication of any service or activity provided by any other County officer or department.’
